US M1940 Mounted Service (Cavalry) Boots

These boots are made from all leather with a rubber heel. The leather has a protective coating that can give it a 'vinyl' or 'plastic' look when new. This coating can be stripped off or will wear off with use. Once the coating is removed, the boots can take a high gloss shine.

Sizing for these boots is inconsistent, with some finding them true to size and others needing to size up. Some boots fit perfectly when ordered in the usual size. Other boots are a little large, or too tight, or snug around the foot width-wise.

These reproduction boots are comparable in quality to original M1940 boots. The height and proportions are correct when compared side-by-side with originals. The laces are almost indistinguishable from original examples.

These boots are well-made and wear well, holding up to hard service. They have been used for two semesters in a Horse Science program, enduring muck and mud. The boots stayed on and protected the feet and legs even when mired to mid-calf in soft ground.

The boots come with a factory finish that can appear 'plastic' or 'vinyl'. This protective coating can be stripped off using isopropyl alcohol or will wear off with use. Once the finish is removed, the leather can be polished to a high gloss.

These boots are very comfortable, with some finding them more comfortable than modern work boots. The break-in period is only a few days of wear. They provide good support, preventing twisted ankles.
