This rubberized canvas poncho is made to the 1889 specifications but is little changed from the 18664 pattern issued in the Civil War.  These were used through the Spanish-American War and the Phillipines Insurgency.  It measures 72" x 45". The poncho was specified for an issue to the mounted soldiers, the rubberized blanket for Infantry.
