US M1923 Mounted Cartridge Belt (Improved Buckle)

This is a reproduction of the US M1923 cartridge belt. It was used by US Cavalry and was also popular with paratroopers. The design includes a blank space for attaching a pistol magazine pouch. This belt is suitable for carrying en bloc clips for an M1 rifle.

The belt is OD #3, which is a khaki green colour. This colour is a close match to original 1918 dated pistol magazine carriers. It also matches an unissued 1928 haversack. The colour is generally considered good and of quality material.

The belt is a well-done replica with excellent quality and workmanship. The stitching is fantastic, and the entire belt feels very solidly put together. It compares well to original belts in terms of quality and craftsmanship. The material and hardware are also noted as nice.

The belt adjusts to fit waist sizes from 32 to 46 inches. The pouches are designed to line up correctly on the belt. It is a good addition for display kits or for field use.

These belts do not include the internal strap and snap that would typically hold a 5-round clip in place. Despite this, the pouches easily fit loaded en bloc clips. The clasps on the belt are solid.

The belt has a blank space designed for attaching a pistol magazine pouch. Some reproduction 1911 magazine pouches snap into place perfectly and stay put. However, the securing snap on the back of original .45 magazine pouches can vary in location, so not all originals will snap to this belt. The button for the mag pouch can be a little lower than on an original, and the pistol mag button does not always line up or stay attached.
