US Model 1908 Cavalry Breeches

The breeches are made from a golden tan khaki cotton twill. This material is described as high quality and proper weight. It is double-stitched for durability under field conditions.

These are reproductions of the US Model 1908 Pattern breeches. They were originally issued to mounted soldiers and were still in use as late as 1917. They are suitable for a pre-Great War style or a stateside impression.

The breeches have an extra high rise and sit just below the naval, not above the hips. Measure your waist at this point for the best fit. Sizing can be generous, so some jackets need a hot wash to shrink a bit.

The breeches have a full seat reinforcement and a correct taper at the knee. The flare is just right for freedom of movement in the saddle. The calf lacing provides a good fit, with plenty of room without being too loose.

The breeches feature a backbelt and a watch pocket. Some breeches have loose fabric behind the knees, which can bunch uncomfortably under boots or puttees. The braces buttons are sometimes sewn on in regular thread, and the top clip and buttons can come off easily.

These breeches are suitable for WWI reenacting, particularly for a stateside impression. They are also worn for riding and for a border trooper look in SASS Wild Bunch Shooting. They are comfortable and wearable through a wide range of temperatures, including 100-degree weather.
