French TAP 47/52 Para Lizard Camo Jacket

This reproduction uniform jacket was worn by French paratroopers. It was in service during the Indochina and Algerian conflicts. The jacket is a reproduction of the TAP 47/52 pattern. It is designed to replicate the original garment from that era.

Sizing can be inconsistent, with some jackets fitting true to size and others running small. A 40 Regular US coat size corresponds to a Medium, while a 45-inch chest fits a Large/Long. For a 52-54 US size, the XXL is wearable but smallish, and may be too small to wear internal layers. It is recommended to measure a jacket that fits you across the chest from armpit to armpit and compare it to the provided size chart.

The material and sewing are generally excellent, and the jacket feels robust. However, some jackets have a thinner material than expected, which raises concerns about tearing the snaps off the pockets. The fabric is described as great, with good colour and texture. The jacket is well-made and feels authentic.

Sleeve length varies; some jackets have sleeves that are notably short, especially for taller individuals. Other jackets have sleeves that are skin-tight and cannot be rolled up past the forearms. However, a Large size fits a 6'1" individual with 190 pounds well, with sleeves that are the correct length. For a 6'2" individual, the sleeves may be too short.

For some, the XXL size is too small to wear internal layers, especially for taller individuals. However, an XXL can provide a little wiggle room for a 6'2" 230 lb male, making it perfect for wearing a hoodie underneath in winter. A slightly looser fit in XXL is suitable for winter layering. For spring and summer, a smaller size might be preferred.

The chest measurements from armpit to armpit are as follows: XS is 24", S is 25", M is 26", L is 27", XL is 28", and XXL is 30". It is recommended to measure a jacket that fits you flat across the chest from armpit to armpit. Compare this measurement to the size list to find your best fit.
