US Army M43 Jacket (Improved Run)

The jacket is cut generously to allow for layering. Some jackets fit true to size, providing comfortable room for movement and layering. Other jackets run a little large, and sizing down by one size still leaves room for a wool shirt and sweater. If you plan to wear a pile liner, your normal size may be more suitable.

The fabric is heavier and tighter than previous runs of this jacket. It is a thick, sturdy fabric with a good weight and texture. The colour is a light olive green, described as OD 3 or OD 7. Some jackets have a fabric that is not the correct poplin.

The jacket is windproof and provides good warmth. It serves well in cold conditions, keeping the wearer warm in temperatures as low as the 40s Fahrenheit with high winds. The fabric is thick and blocks wind effectively. It is suitable for winter outdoor activities.

The jacket is described as more authentic than most other reproductions. The weight, texture, and shade of OD 7 match original specimens. However, some jackets have misspellings on the labels and the fabric is not always the correct poplin. The chest pockets also seem small compared to some originals.

Some jackets have an odd bunching of fabric in the armpit and shoulder area due to the way the arms are cut. The sleeves on some jackets are cut too large on the front, causing them to rest backwards when hung. The lining of the lower pockets can also be off compared to originals.

The jacket length is good, hitting just above the thighs for a 6'0" wearer. The sleeves are also a good length, not too long. Both sleeve and body length are described as good, even when sizing down.
