Rhodesian Boots

These are reproductions of commercial pattern boots worn by Rhodesian Security Forces. They are a typical example of the privately purchased boots worn alongside issue Bata boots. The boots closely resemble the standard issue boot of the era. They are suitable for reenactors and for a retro alternative for hiking and camping.

The boots feature soft crepe rubber "anti-tracking" soles with no tread pattern. Despite the lack of a traditional tread, the anti-tracking sole still offers plenty of grip. One sole may start to tongue after significant use.

The leather is of medium quality. It holds shoe polish well after a few washes to remove the initial dye. Daily polishing with Kiwi can help achieve a nice patina and the reddish shine many originals developed.

The boots are solid and well-made, with all seams being double or triple stitched. They hold up nicely to abuse and have survived extensive hiking with heavy loads, volleyball games, and climbing tests. One sole may start to peel a little after a few days of wear.

The eyelets can be poorly set and have sharp edges. These sharp edges may chew the laces. Squeezing the eyelets with pliers before lacing can prevent this issue.

These boots are not an exact copy of the specific Army issue Rhodesian boots. They are a very good copy of one of the clandestine types that were available for private purchase at the time. They closely resemble the era's Bata lightweights.
