I didn’t expect much for the price, to be clear… I did like that the knife feels solid, and that the MADE IN CHINA on the blade was easy to remove. The blade metal is absolutely terrible. It’s too thick at the beginning of the edge bevel, which affects the grind angle, and the metal will not hold an edge. It seems sharp when new, but once it has been used for anything, you’re not likely to ever get it sharp again. This is the first product from WPG that I have not been completely impressed with and very happy to own. I will reiterate that for the price, I don’t expect much- but I’d rather pay more for a knife I’m glad to have. This one is fine for a costume, but there’s no point thinking about carrying it as a tool.

oh the fun of a big marlin spike
(8/11/2025)
I do appreciate that this knife was sharp enough right from the warehouse to make quick work of the seams holding the belt to the KD officer's service dress jacket, but what I really like is the marlin spike which helped me to open knots in the guy lines of my tent. Looking forward to practicing my splicing skills. Seems a good repro tho for a later period than I tend to curate, still the turnscrew will surely end up being useful too.

Not bad for a Repro
(6/26/2024)
I have a 1944 dated clasp knife and this compares pretty well. Appears to be stainless steel vs carbon steel on the original and a couple minor variances with number of rivets in the handle and the size of the washers but the scales themselves seem well made. If you don't have an original this will fill the bill nicely and you can't beat the price! I was very pleased when I opened the box. Highly recommended!
